Six Pack BioJars – Take Your Lab Live with the Ultimate Professional Culture Vessel.
Stop fighting fragile glass mason jars and low-quality single-use plastic bags. The SafeSteri BioJar 320ml is a professional-grade, reusable Mother Spawn vessel engineered specifically for clean, repeatable mycology lab workflows.
It features an ergonomic, palm-sized design that makes handling, shaking, and G2G agar inoculation vastly more efficient than traditional wide-mouth glass jars.
The Triple-Shield Filtration Architecture:
Every breath your mycelium takes is forced through an multi-layered filtration system, offering absolute bio-security against ambient contaminants with zero bypass:
-
Primary Barrier: A high-efficiency, hydrophobic 0.25µm ePTFE internal patch that allows pristine gas exchange while locking out malicious mould spores and microscopic bacterial endospores.
-
Secondary Layer (N95 SMS Tape): The primary membrane is double-secured using heavy-duty medical N95 SMS tape. Sporting a high Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (95% BFE) rating via its melt-blown core, it permits seamless CO2 venting without building up internal pressure.
-
Tertiary Layer (External Craft Shield): A rugged, breathable paper guard that shields the filtration components from direct water pooling during autoclaving and acts as a clean write-on surface for species, strain, and generation tracking.
Technical Excellence & Key Features:
-
Mechanical Positive Lock: The precision-moulded rim and cap ensures a flawless mechanical seal when tightened. Because it completely eliminates the need for rubber or silicone gaskets, there are no hidden crevices for hidden bacterial bio-films to breed in.
-
Autoclave Resilience: Unlike glass, food-grade Polypropylene (PP5) is immune to devastating thermal shocks. If you drop a hot BioJar on the lab floor mid-shake, it bounces instead of shattering your valuable genetics.
-
Optimized Mother Spawn Volume: The 320ml size is the technical “sweet spot” for master expansion cultures. It holds roughly 250ml of fully hydrated grain, leaving perfect headspace for efficient “mix and shake” distribution. One colonized BioJar can easily inoculate over 10kg of bulk G2 grain spawn.
Usage & Preparation Guidelines:
1. Clean & Load Thoroughly wash your reusable BioJar between uses. Load it with roughly 200 – 250 ml of hydrated grain.
2. The Autoclave Quarter-Turn Screw the lid down completely, then back it off a smooth quarter-turn. This is critical for all sealed lab vessels to allow internal steam pressures to equalize smoothly inside your cooker or autoclave.
3. Cook (15 PSI) Sterilize at a true 15 PSI (121°C) for 45 minutes for liquids, or 90 minutes for raw grain media. Ensure your cooker has a rack to keep the jars elevated out of standing bottom water.
4. Lock & Colonize Once the unit cools down to a manageable handling temperature, fully tighten the lid to engage the mechanical Positive Seal. Transfer the jar to a clean flow hood or Still Air Box (SAB), introduce your agar wedge or culture, and seal. Use the external Craft Shield to log your generation notes!
