🛡️ The Breathable Barrier for Sterile Cultivation

Microporous tape is a cornerstone of the modern mycology lab. Specifically selected for its balance of filtration and airflow, our Non-woven Microporous Tape allows your cultures to “breathe” (facilitating essential CO2/Oxygen exchange) while acting as a physical barrier against dust, mold spores, and bacterial contaminants.

Unlike standard medical tapes that may fail under heat, this non-woven tape is fully autoclavable, maintaining its adhesive integrity even after a 121 °C sterilization cycle.

High-Efficiency Dispensing

When working inside a Still Air Box (SAB) or in front of a Laminar Flow Hood, dexterity is limited. Our tape comes integrated into a high-quality Dispensing Cutter. This allows for one-handed operation—tearing off precise strips without the need for scissors, which reduces the time your sterile containers are exposed to the open air.

Why Choose SafeSteri™ Microporous Tape?

  • Optimal Gas Exchange: Designed with microscopic pores that allow for vigorous mycelial respiration without drying out your substrate or agar.

  • Hypoallergenic & Latex-Free: Gentle on the skin but aggressive on lab surfaces, ensuring a secure seal on jar lids, petri dishes, and culture tubes.

  • Residue-Free Removal: Engineered to stick firmly during incubation but peel away cleanly without leaving sticky adhesive behind on your reusable SafeSteri BioJars.

  • Autoclave Stable: Can be applied to jars before sterilization, saving you an extra step in your clean-room workflow.

Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 2.5 cm Wide x 5.0 Meters Long

  • Material: Non-woven, breathable synthetic fiber

  • Color: Clinical White

  • Sterilization: Autoclave-safe (121 °C @ 15psi)

  • Inclusion: Reusable plastic dispenser with integrated serrated cutter.

Usage Tips for Mycologists:

  • Jar Lids: Use two layers over a 6mm hole to create a high-efficiency gas exchange port for grain spawn.

  • Petri Dishes: Wrap the circumference of your 70mm Screw-Top Dishes to provide extra protection against mites and contaminants while allowing the culture to breathe.

  • Storage: Keep the tape inside its dispenser when not in use to prevent the edges of the roll from collecting dust or spores.
