SMS Tape is a high-flow autoclavable adhesive filtration tape based on genuine SMS (Spunbond–Meltblown–Spunbond) polypropylene technology — the same multilayer filtration principle used in N95 respirators and medical sterile barriers.

Unlike ordinary surgical tape or paper micropore products, SMS Tape combines:

• high airflow,
• hydrophobic moisture resistance,
• and fine meltblown particulate filtration

into a durable sterile barrier suitable for demanding mycology and laboratory applications.

The meltblown nanofiber core creates a complex tortuous filtration path that traps contaminants while still allowing aggressive gas exchange, the spunbond outers protect the inner meltblown. This makes SMS Tape especially suited for:

• grain spawn lids,
• BioJars,
• PP layflat tubing,
• monotubs,
• culture vessels,
• fermentation systems,
• and mushroom species requiring heavy respiration such as Lion’s Mane.

The high-temperature acrylic adhesive is autoclavable and bonds exceptionally well to polypropylene and glass surfaces after sterilization cycles.

Unlike absorbent paper tapes, SMS Tap remains hydrophobic and does not wick moisture — helping prevent bacterial ingress through wet filters.
