Dextrose (Glucose Powder) – 150g
in a 320ml PP autoclavable Media Jar
Food-Grade Carbon Source for Mycology & More
Dextrose is a high-purity, food-grade glucose powder that serves as an excellent, fast-digesting carbohydrate source for mushroom cultivation. It dissolves completely to create clear, haze-free solutions—ideal for liquid cultures (LC), agar media, and spawn expansion where visibility and sterility matter.
Primary Mycology Uses
- Liquid Culture: Provides rapid energy for mycelium growth. Use 4–10 g/L (typically 0.4–1%) with 0.2% Soy Peptone (protein source) for crystal-clear LC.
- Agar Media: Standard in PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar) or SDA (Sabouraud Dextrose Agar) recipes—promotes vigorous, clean mycelium without cloudiness.
- Advantages: Neutral pH impact, fast metabolism by fungi, low contamination risk when sterile, and cost-effective for large batches.
Other Uses
- Spherification: Acts as a density adjuster in reverse spherification—helps light liquids sink into alginate baths for perfect spheres. Mix with sodium alginate to prevent clumping on hydration – typically use 1:1 with Sodium Alginate.
- General Food: Mild sweetener and dispersant in recipes.
Packaged in a reusable 320 ml Polypropylene Media Jar for easy storage and air tight preservation. Bottle is reusable, autoclavable and versatile lab tool.
Quick Tips
- In LC: Start at 1% Glucose and 0.2% Soy Peptone for balanced growth.
- In Agar: Substitute 1:1 with malt extract in most recipes for clearer plates.
- Always sterilize properly (15 PSI for 20–30 min). Test small batches first.
Packaged: The dextrose is packaged in a 320ml reusable Polypropylene Media Jar
