Eco Bini™ Bokashi BAM! is a concentrated biological Bokashi inoculant designed to ferment food waste using Beneficial Active Microbes (BAM!). Unlike ordinary Bokashi bran, this product is the active biological component that powers the fermentation process comprising EM and Soil Biome Micobes (BAM!).

Whether you use wheat bran, sawdust, wood shavings, shredded cardboard or another absorbent carrier, Bokashi BAM! provides the living microbial culture needed to rapidly ferment organic waste into a stable, nutrient-rich pre-compost ready for worms, compost systems or direct soil incorporation.

Our formulation includes premium Biochar, creating protected microbial habitat that improves culture stability, extends shelf life and increases biological resilience during fermentation.

Why Activated Carbon?

Most Bokashi inoculants simply coat microbes onto bran.

Eco Bini™ Bokashi BAM! goes one step further by incorporating activated carbon throughout the inoculant. The microscopic pore structure protects microbial colonies during storage and creates permanent “microbial hotels” that continue functioning long after the fermented material has been incorporated into the soil.

The result is not simply fermented waste—but the beginning of a living soil ecosystem.

DIY Bokashi Bran

One 2 kg pack of Eco Bini™ Bokashi BAM! can inoculate multiple batches of homemade Bokashi Bran. Alternatively, LAB-X may be used as the primary microbial inoculant.


Typical Recipe (Makes approximately 5 Litres)

  • 1 kg Wheat Bran (approximately 5 Litres) or a similar nitrogen-rich absorbent carrier.
  • 250 ml Eco Bini™ Bokashi BAM! (approximately 100 g).
  • 1 L Water (adjust as required to achieve approximately 55% moisture content).
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar (10–15 g).
  • 10 ml LAB-X Serum (optional – boosts LAB populations).

Method

  1. Dissolve the brown sugar in the water (and LAB-X if using).
  2. Add the Bokashi BAM! to bran and mix in roughly.
  3. Add Sugar/LAB water to dry ingredients and mix thoroughly until evenly moistened.
  4. The correct moisture level is reached when a firmly squeezed handful just holds together, with only one or two drops of water appearing.
  5. Compress firmly into an airtight bucket or heavy-duty plastic bag, removing as much air as possible.
  6. Ferment anaerobically for approximately 14 days.
  7. Spread the bran thinly and allow it to air-dry before storage.

Quality Check

Properly fermented Bokashi Bran should develop a pleasant sweet-and-sour fermented aroma with patches of white fungal growth.

Discard the batch if it develops:

  • Black mould
  • Green mould
  • Blue mould
  • A rotten or putrid smell

STS Tip

Although wheat bran is the traditional carrier, the microbes are doing the work—not the bran itself. Other absorbent organic carriers such as sawdust, wood shavings, chopped straw or similar carbon-rich materials may also be used, provided the correct moisture content, protein content and anaerobic conditions are maintained.
