The Immortal Deerhorn Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is one of the world’s most celebrated medicinal mushrooms. Revered throughout East Asia for more than two thousand years, Reishi has traditionally been known as the “Mushroom of Immortality”, symbolizing longevity, vitality and wellness.

Unlike the familiar fan-shaped Reishi, the Deerhorn variety develops elegant antler-like fruiting bodies with little or no cap formation. This distinctive morphology has made it highly sought after by medicinal mushroom cultivators and functional mushroom producers.

Our STS culture maintains the classic Deerhorn growth habit, producing beautiful antler formations under appropriate cultivation conditions.

Each Spawn Kit contains everything required to establish your first grain spawn before expanding onto hardwood-based substrates.

🌱 Cultivation

Immortal Deerhorn Reishi is a hardwood species that performs exceptionally well on supplemented sawdust and Master’s Mix.

Recommended substrates include:

• Master’s Mix (Hardwood Sawdust & Soy Hulls)
• Supplemented hardwood sawdust
• Hardwood pellets
• Hardwood logs

Reishi is slower growing than oyster mushrooms but rewards patient cultivators with dense, woody fruiting bodies rich in fungal biomass.

To encourage the classic Deerhorn form, maintain high humidity and relatively elevated carbon dioxide levels during fruiting. Increased Fresh Air Exchange encourages the development of the familiar fan-shaped conks, while reduced air exchange favours elegant antler formation.

Unlike many gourmet mushrooms that require elaborate fruiting chambers or frequent environmental adjustments, Deerhorn Reishi naturally develops its characteristic antler-shaped fruiting bodies inside the original spawn bag.

Simply place the fully colonized spawn bag in a warm environment (above 25°C) and let nature do the rest. The sealed bag maintains its own ideal microclimate, eliminating the need for humidity management, misting or Fresh Air Exchange (FAE) adjustments.
