The Dual-Phase Carbon Engine
Our dual-phase carbon matrix (โ6 of the finished product volume) works in two complementaryย ways
- 4% Sated Granular Activated Carbon (SAC): high-surface-area macadamia micropores that permanently raise cation exchange capacity and provide a lasting, UV-protected habitat for beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizal fungi.
- 2-4% Starch-Bound Charcoal Matrix: a rapid labile carbon source that fuels immediate microbial colonization when blended into the vermicast.
The carbon is fully colonized inside mature, sifted CFT vermicompost before controlled air-drying. This anchors plant-growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), humic acids, plant growth hormones and enzymes into a permanent carbon framework that remains active in the root zone long after ordinary inoculants have washed away.

Application Methods:
- Living Soil & Potting Blends: Mix 5% by volume of organics/compost into planting mediums.
- Seedlings: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) in the planting hole.
- Transplants: 2โ4 tablespoons (30โ60 ml) in the planting hole for direct root contact.
- Top-Dressing: Cup (250ml) per mยฒ around the drip line of beds, trees or high-value crops.
- Compost Catalyst: 1 cup (250ml) per 30 L of compost to jump-start biology.
- Worm Farms & Bokashi: 1 tablespoon per litre (15ml) of organic scraps to accelerate breakdown.
Storage:
Packaged in a breathable BOPP/LDPE bag with a custom collar filter that allows the soil biome to respire while holding optimal moisture. After use, re-insert the bag into the collar and store in a cool, dark place out of direct sunlight.

VermisCHAR BAC! solves this by introducing a complete living soil biome already established inside a permanent, dual-phase carbon habitat. The VermiCHAR BAC! Manufacturing Process
VermiCHAR BAC! is produced through a controlled 5-stage biological conditioning process developed at the Sustainability Testing Station (STS). Each batch develops as a living ecosystem before packaging.
- Stage 1 โ Sated Activated Carbon (SAC): Premium macadamia-shell granular activated carbon is conditioned to satisfy its natural Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) with calcium, preventing nitrogen and nutrient lock-out.
- Stage 2 โ Dual-Phase Carbon Blending: Sated SAC is combined with starch-bound charcoal to supply both permanent pore structures and a rapid labile carbon source.
- Stage 3 โ Biological Conditioning: The carbon matrix (SAC and starched biochar) is mixed into mature, biologically active Continuous Flow-Through (CFT) vermicast where living microflora naturally colonize the pores over a 2โ3 week period.
- Stage 4 โ Controlled Air Drying: The material is slowly air-dried to ~40โ50% moisture content, stabilizing the product for storage while preserving the entrained soil biome. During this phase, it is twice-sifted while airing to remove worms from hatched cocoons.
- Stage 5 โ Gas-Exchange Packaging: Packed in autoclavable polypropylene containers that maintain required moisture levels while allowing vital gas exchange for living micro-organisms.

PROS: Biological Propagation (Liquid Expansion Brew)
While VermiCHAR BAC! provides a permanent carbon home in the soil, you can rapidly expand (propagate) the living microflora into a liquid drench to cover vast garden areas:
- Dissolve: Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar or unsulphured molasses to 1 Liter of dechlorinated water.
- Inoculate: Stir in 1 tablespoon of VermiCHAR BAC!.
- Brew: Let sit overnight (<8 hours) at room temperature to wake up and exponentially multiply the bacteria, fungi, and protozoa.
- Spread the Wealth: Drench directly into garden beds, potted plants, compost piles, or drains to distribute active biology everywhere.
CONS: Key Handling & Storage Considerations
- Keep Moisture Intact: Always close the tub after use. Allowing the product to dry out below 25% moisture content causes living biology to go dormant or decline.
- Protect from Direct UV: Store in a cool, shaded spot. When top-dressing garden beds, cover with a thin layer of mulch to shade the surface microflora from harsh midday sun.
- Dosing Limits: Use at 5%โ10% by volume in soil mixes. Exceeding 20% in small pots can increase porosity too much, causing light mixes to dry out faster than desired.
