Waterproof TDS Tester (TDS Range: 0-9990ppm) with ATC.
A Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) tester is an essential tool for hydroponic gardeners. It measures the concentration of dissolved solids, including salts and nutrients, in your hydroponic solution. This helps ensure your plants receive the optimal nutrient levels for healthy growth.
TDS Tester Key Features:
- Accurate Measurement: Provides precise readings of nutrient concentration in parts per million (ppm).
- Easy to Use: Simply dip the meter into the nutrient solution and get instant results.
- ATC: Automatic Temperature Compensation for accurate readings from 0-80°C.
- Portable Design: Compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry and use anywhere.
- Durable Construction: Waterproof and robust design ensures long-lasting performance.
- Wide Range: Can measure from 0-9990 PPM.
Benefits:
- Optimal Nutrient Levels: Helps maintain the right concentration of nutrients, preventing deficiencies or toxicities.
- Improved Plant Health: Ensures plants receive the necessary nutrient level for vigorous growth and higher yields.
- Cost-Effective: Reduces waste of nutrients by allowing precise adjustments to the nutrient solution.
- User-Friendly: Simple operation with clear digital display for easy reading.
How to Use:
- Test the Solution: Dip the meter’s probe into the hydroponic nutrient solution.
- Read the Results: Wait for the reading to stabilize and note the ppm value displayed. For odd positions there this a “HOLD” button to retain reading.
- Adjust Nutrients: Based on the reading, adjust the nutrient concentration by adding more nutrients or diluting with water as needed.
Applications:
- Ideal for use in hydroponic systems, aquaponics, and other water-based growing environments. Can also be used for TDS testing of any water.
- Suitable for both hobbyists and professional growers.
Maintenance:
- Rinse the probe with distilled water after each use.
- Store the meter in a dry place to prolong its lifespan.
- Regularly calibrate the meter to ensure accurate readings.
SPeS Notes:
Over the years have had and tested many EC Meters from 7-in-1 Variants to the Smartphone linked BLE series. But really impressed with this TDS meter for following reasons:
- Like the Hanna range uses table salt (NaCl) for PPM detection, allows easy calibration (1mg NaCl/litre distilled water = 1 PPM)
- Easy to convert to conventional EC (Electric conductivity), 1PPM = 2 μS/cm
- Cost effective
🛠️ SPeS Pro-Tip: DIY Calibration Most meters require expensive calibration fluids. Not this one. Because it uses the NaCl scale, you can make your own 1000ppm calibration solution at home:
-
Take 1 Liter of Distilled Water.
-
Dissolve exactly 1.0g of pure Table Salt (NaCl).
-
Your meter should read 1000ppm.
Scale it down: For a quick check, add 0.1g of salt to 100ml of distilled water.
